One of the new things I am up to is making little felt babies. This is Emily and Nathan. They are welcoming baby Liam. Liam was made by my friend Lisa Haldeman. You can find her cute tiny babies and needle felted pets here http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5859966 She has opened a shop on Zazzle featuring her cuties on mugs, stickers, mouse pads and magnets. http://www.zazzle.com/lovinclaydolls*

My First Reborn Baby
First you start with a kit which is the plastic head, arms and legs sometime the torso. I also used a doe suade body. The plastic parts are painted with layers of heat set paints. The paints are heat set between each layer. Then the eyes are glued in. The hair is rooted with a felting needle. Then you weight your body parts. This makes the baby feel like the weight of a real baby. Then you attach the parts to the soft body that has been weighted also.
This little baby is only 10". She was fun to make, I can't wait to get started on another. I hope with practice I will improve with each one I make.

Look What was in Our Garage!
Last night while I was on the computer upstairs, my husband yells, "there is a hummingbird in the garage!" Well, my kids and I had to see this. My husband said he heard it and thought it was a big moth, then saw that it was a hummingbird. It would circle the lights in the garage and rest on the bicycles hanging from the ceiling or the bars for the garage door. We opened the garage door, but it still was not finding its way out. So, out came the kids butterfly nets and I was able to gently trap the little bird between the two nets and lower it to the outside. We were able to get one last picture before it headed straight up into the night sky. What an exciting night!

Blue Bird in Flowering Tree
With spring here I love to see all the flowering trees as I go down the road. The pinks, lavenders and white trees all make for a great show. The birds can be seen trying to find a mate and then the nests start popping up. I decided to needlefelt a tapestry to show of the colors of spring, not only the flowering tree but of the colorful blue bird. The leaves are some curly locks that have been dyed green. The finished art is 5x7" with an 8x10 dappled brown mat. I will be listing this in my Etsy store.
