Blue Bird in Flowering Tree

With spring here I love to see all the flowering trees as I go down the road. The pinks, lavenders and white trees all make for a great show. The birds can be seen trying to find a mate and then the nests start popping up. I decided to needlefelt a tapestry to show of the colors of spring, not only the flowering tree but of the colorful blue bird. The leaves are some curly locks that have been dyed green. The finished art is 5x7" with an 8x10 dappled brown mat. I will be listing this in my Etsy store.

Baby Noah

This is the latest OOAK (one of a kind) baby that I have added to my collection. His head, arms, and legs are made from Prosculpt clay. He has a soft body. Noah measures 15" with his kness bent, the size of a preemie. This is the largest clay baby I have. Most are 2"-8". The artist who created Noah is Joni Inlow. You can find out more about her and her babies at http://www.dolly-street.com/. Noah is so fun to hold. He has a precious face.

Felting Forum May Challenge

For the month of May the challenge is flowers. I hadn't made a flower before so I was procrastinating. I started last night and finished this morning. This is my Blackeyed Susan. The first picture shows the flower almost finished and the supplies to make it. The next picture shows it complete. It measures 4x6", now I just need to get a mat for it.

Needlefelted Pendants

It all started with a leaf, now I can't stop! I love creating these needlefelted pendants! In the first one a bird flies over a field of flowers. The next one is a lake scene with tall grass. I added metallic thread to catch the highlights of the sun and water, then a dragonfly charm. Both of these are in my Etsy store.

Leaf and Ladybug Necklace

This is my first wearable needlefelted creation. This leaf is made out of Merino wool which is very soft next to the skin. The Merino wool is alittle more difficult to felt than wool roving. All the fibers are going the same direction. I would pull off bits of wool and later it in opposite directions. This way the barbed needle could catch the fibers and mesh them together quicker. This is also for the Etsy NFEST Challenge this month.

Sunset 1-Needlefelt Art

I bought a mat the other day for my needlefelted sunset. I am so happy with the way this came out. This sunset is my first needlefelted landscape. I had a great time doing it. I can't wait to do another one. It measures 5x7 and I used layers of colored wool to achieve just the right look. I felt like I was painting which I haven't done for years. I have listed this lovely piece in my Etsy store, cuttingedgecreations.etsy.com. While there you have to check out another Etsy store, Deebs.etsy.com, she has some lovely needlefelted art.

Goldfinches

The other day I was upstairs on the computer and looked out the window when a male Goldfinch landed in our Redbud tree. He sat there for awhile looking around. So I grabbed my camera a took a picture. It is through the screen and window, but not to bad. The next thing I knew Mrs. Goldfinch came along. So, I took a picture of both of them.
